Beautiful to be cried!
Preah Khan, "the crowned sword", it is in our opinion the most beautiful monument of whole Angkor ! Built by Jayavarman VII little after Ta Phrom, but in the honour of his father, this temple is of an incomparable beauty.
Unfortunately of broad part of this monument are reduced to heaps of stones which piled up during centuries and under the force of the vegetation and the bad weather. Many representations of the Buddha were voluntarily deteriorated little after death of Jayavarman VII at the time of the short reappearance of the Hinduism. 56 hectares where are alternated the buildings into various a state of conservation or restoration.
The visit is done while crossing the temple in all its width, of the East door to the western door or conversely, so that it is necessary to send your driver to await you at the other end.
Preah Khan, city of the Victory would have been built on the same spot where Jayavarman VII gained the victory over Chams, provisional royal city when the Royal Palace of Angkor Thom was downtown repair and especially monastic where unrolled many traditional and religious festivals. There would have been nearly 100.000 people working there including thousand dancers!
